Scott Timcke (PhD, Simon Fraser University) is a political economist specializing in AI and democratic life. A Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg’s Centre for Social Change and an Affiliate of the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life at UNC Chapel Hill, he has also held academic positions at the University of Leeds and The University of the West Indies. An editorial board member of the African Journal of Information and Communication, Scott is the author of Algorithms and The End of Politics (2021) and The Political Economy of Fortune and Misfortune (2023). His expertise lies in political economy, democracy, and AI research.
