Wayne, a Certified Internal Auditor, has a Masters Degree in Internal Audit. He has over 20 years’ experience in internal audit, risk management, financial management and management consulting crossing both private and public sectors. He helps organisations drive growth, optimise governance frameworks, and manage risk through innovative, AI-integrated processes.
His curatorship and regulatory compliance expertise have been instrumental in improving operational efficiency. Wayne’s last position included being an Associate Director at SkX Protiviti responsible for driving the internal audit and risk management service lines within the Financial Services sector. Prior to that, he worked at various entities in key roles such as the Head of Finance, the Compliance and Business Analyst Manager, the Chief Audit Executive and the Chief Risk Officer.
Wayne’s skills include providing thought leadership around internal audit and risk management. Specifically, providing advice and recommendations around ways of improving the effectiveness of risk management, internal audit, compliance and integrating performance, risk and assurance.
Wayne was involved in creating a service improvement framework which was recognized by National Treasury who appointed him to sit on a specialist Task Team to develop a risk appetite framework for the public sector.
Wayne has also sat as a member on the Audit Committee for Gauteng Treasury where he was responsible for oversight over numerous Gauteng Departments. Wayne, in consultation with Protiviti, was involved in delivering solutions that enabled clients to accelerate execution and the realization of measurable returns.
The solution encompassed an advanced decision support and operating model analysis technology that leverages a prebuilt business framework (model), AI/Machine Learning, and predictive, multivariant business simulation capabilities. The solution systematically discovers business/operating model constraints, conditions, and direction (e.g., purpose, measures, methods, tools, etc.) and is applied to achieve optimized operations.
