He has extensive practical experience in business empowerment programs as he worked with the European Community in Zimbabwe on small Business development and support programs where he facilitated empowerment programs in entrepreneurship, business management, financial planning, and basic bookkeeping.
His key responsibilities under the EU project were to establish reasons for small business failures throughout the country and recommend remedial activities which Prof Nyoka himself spearheaded in terms of implementation. The biggest finding had to do with lack of record keeping, product costing covering pricing and marketing. As a result, Prof Nyoka developed a basic bookkeeping program for small entrepreneurs which he then presented to identified members at identified platforms.
The other areas of concerns were management of cash flows and basic management principles and again to this end, Prof developed programs on cash flow management as well and basic principles of management. It also came to Prof attention that there was lack of understanding with respect to basic business risks and again to this end Prof Nyoka developed small pamphlets on business risk management which he shared with several participants.
In South Africa, Prof Nyoka was at some stage a resource person for Khula Enterprises where he provided mentorship to the unit clients of business management and basic bookkeeping processes. Prof Nyoka is a member of the economic society of Zimbabwe, a member of the South African Institute of Bankers and a member of the Zimbabwe Institute of Bankers.
